Carolina Leaners gives the truck more direct controls than a basic Roblox driving game. The current developer-written control card covers lights, turn signals, hazards, 4x4, manual shifts, transmission mode, traction and braking assists, the handbrake, horn, engine, and freecam. Learning those inputs in a parking area is the fastest way to avoid calling a working truck broken.

These binds come from the live Roblox experience description. They are the strongest public reference available for the current build. Normal movement, camera, and menu navigation still follow Roblox and the vehicle controller, so the list below focuses on the special truck functions the developer explicitly documents.

Complete official control map

  • Lights: L on keyboard; B / Circle on controller.
  • Left indicator: Z on keyboard; D-pad left on controller.
  • Right indicator: C on keyboard; D-pad right on controller.
  • Hazards: X on keyboard; hold D-pad down on controller.
  • 4x4: G on keyboard; D-pad up on controller.
  • Shift up: E on keyboard; X on controller.
  • Shift down: Q on keyboard; Y on controller.
  • Transmission mode: M on keyboard; tap D-pad down on controller.
  • TCS: T on keyboard; hold D-pad left on controller.
  • ABS: Y on keyboard; hold D-pad right on controller.
  • Handbrake: P on keyboard; LB / L1 on controller.
  • Horn: H on keyboard. The public card does not list a controller horn bind.
  • Engine on or off: F on keyboard; click L3 on controller.
  • Freecam: Shift + P on keyboard.

The tap-versus-hold distinction on the D-pad is important. Tap down changes transmission mode; holding down activates hazards. Left and right taps are indicators, while holds toggle TCS and ABS. Practice each one while parked so the result is visible without traffic around you.

First-minute control check

Start with the engine. Press F or click L3, wait for the truck to respond, and do not repeatedly toggle the input. Turn on the lights with L or B/Circle, then test each indicator and cancel it. Toggle hazards once, verify both sides, and turn them back off.

Next, check the transmission mode before moving. Roll forward slowly, test the handbrake, and learn how the truck stops. Keep 4x4 off on clean pavement during this check. When you reach dirt or a rut, enable it with G or D-pad up and compare the response at low speed.

Finally, test the assists. TCS can calm wheelspin, while ABS affects braking behavior. The game can change how strongly those systems feel between updates, so treat the keys as confirmed and the exact handling effect as something to verify on your current truck.

Keyboard route

Keyboard places most driving functions around the left hand. Q and E share space with movement inputs, which makes straight sections the best time to change gear. Avoid trying to shift repeatedly in a tight corner or deep rut. T and Y are close enough to brush accidentally, so if traction or braking suddenly feels different, check whether an assist was toggled before changing your build.

The unusual pair is P and Shift + P. A plain P is the handbrake, while holding Shift opens freecam. Park completely before entering freecam. That removes ambiguity and prevents the truck from rolling while you frame a stance screenshot.

Controller route

Controller offers smoother analog throttle for careful lot exits, but the D-pad carries several functions. Think of it as two layers: taps for indicators, 4x4, and transmission mode; holds for TCS, ABS, and hazards. Press deliberately and watch the HUD or truck response before issuing another input.

Clicking L3 toggles the engine, so an excited steering-thumb press can shut the truck down. If the vehicle goes silent in the middle of a meet, click once and wait. The handbrake lives on LB/L1, separate from the lights on B/Circle.

Match controls to the surface

On pavement, start with normal transmission behavior, 4x4 off, hazards off, and lights appropriate for visibility. Use indicators before leaving a parking row. A low race build needs careful speed over driveways, while a squat build benefits from gentle throttle so its rear stance does not turn every exit into a scrape.

On farms and rough ground, slow down before enabling 4x4. A lifted truck gets the most value from that combination. TCS can help while learning, but no toggle replaces clearance and sensible entry speed. If the truck still catches every rut, the problem is the stance, not a missing secret control.

When a bind seems wrong

First confirm that you joined place ID 10141034164 from the Official Carolina Leaners group. Then check whether the chat box, code field, or another text input has focus. Click or tap back into the game before testing a driving key.

If the entire truck is unresponsive, try the engine input once. If only lights fail, use L or B/Circle; older community cards can assign different functions. If D-pad down performs the wrong action, remember that a tap is transmission mode and a hold is hazards.

Reconnect after an update shutdown because an older server can retain the previous interface. If the same confirmed bind fails in a new server on more than one truck, use the developer’s requested bug-report channel and include the device, input, and exact result.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start the engine?

Press F on keyboard or click L3 on controller. Press once, wait for the response, and repeat only if the first input was not registered.

How do I turn on 4x4?

Use G on keyboard or D-pad up on controller. Enable it before rough dirt rather than after the truck is already stuck.

How do I use hazards on controller?

Hold D-pad down. A quick tap on D-pad down changes transmission mode instead.

What opens freecam?

Use Shift + P on a keyboard. Park before entering it because plain P is the handbrake.

Why did my engine stop on controller?

The engine toggle is the left-stick click. You may have pressed L3 while steering; click it once to restart.

Are mobile touch controls documented?

The public developer card lists keyboard and controller binds but not a complete touch layout. Mobile buttons can change with screen size and updates, so use the labels shown in your current HUD rather than guessing a keyboard equivalent.
